the next step is to have an integrated blog tool so that one can simply post into WordPress or other blog software.

Is that on your to-do list?

You can enable Blog This in Tools->Options->Features page. GreatNews can post directly to WordPress and several other sites. GreatNews can also use external blogging tool like w.Bloggar to support more blogging services.

How about a generic BlogThis plug-in?

Postby pidge » Wed Mar 15, 2006 11:56 am

Hi,

First, GN is nice news reader! I especially like your reading layout styles.

Is is possible to create a generic BlogThis plug-in which allows the user to configure any offline editor application exe path as well as the command line parameters. The current GN wBlogger plug-in is hardcoded to look up wBlogger exe via reg key.

Our application (Zoundry, http://zoundry.com) accepts command line parameters when used with an RSS Reader. The command line param options in our application excepts either an external xhtml file (similar to wBlogger) or inlined plain text (i.e the blog this text is part of the command line).

Sample configurations (cmd line options) for Zoundry can be found here:
http://www.zoundry.com/support.html#Q3.4

Pls let us know (support at zoundry dhot com, or post to this thread) if we need to change or modify our command line options to neatly integrate with GN. We can make the enhancements to our up coming release
(http://forums.zoundry.com/viewtopic.php?t=108).

Thanks.

But GN (check latest builds) has that already. Tools -> Options -> Features -> Configure Blog Tools -> New.

Sorry, didn't see that you require an offline exe file to be executed. This seems not to be supported yet, as you said.

pidge, thanks for the information. I will add a generic blog writer interface in next build. So GreatNews will be able to work with Zoundry.

Great! A generic plug-in would be useful for other applications such as Ecto, BlogJet, Qumana etc. as well. I think most emulate what wBlogger did i.e. refer to the blogthis content via an external file (filename passed in via cmd line params).
