I have never tried to build it with GCC, but honesly, I believe it will not compile without changes. It has some Windows dependencies such ATL and so on, that I believe are not available as a drop in replacement in GCC.
Your best bet would be getting Visual C++ 2010, which works perfectly on GreatNews.
