Seems promising. Can't wait to test the x64 build when available!

Thanks for this release! The error message on startup is finally gone (Win 7 64 bit) and I can create folders again – love this tool! :D

I tried to update my installed build 386 to build 390.
Upon program start I got the following message:
---------------------------
GreatNews
---------------------------
The database file needs to be upgraded
to work with this version of GreatNews.

It won't be compatible with older versions
of GreatNews after this upgrade.

Apply the upgrade now?
---------------------------
OK Abbrechen
---------------------------

After cklicking [OK] i got:
---------------------------
GreatNews
---------------------------
Database update failed:
ERROR[1]: no such column: bloglines_account
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

And then the program terminates.

Has anyone got any pointers on how I get this source code?

I downloaded the source 7z file but it won't open with 7z or winzip. They just tell me its an invalid archive.

I'm both curious about the code and want to disable a couple of features, so having the source would be a good start!

Thanks
Steve

I seem to be doing something horribly wrong, and it's intensely frustrating. I'd LOVE to update my GreatNews (I currently use 386), but no matter what browser I use to download the attachments, I always get errors. If I download a .zip attachment, I get the error "An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file." when I try to extract it. If I download a .7z file, I get the error "Can not open file "x" as archive."

This wouldn't be so frustrating if I weren't using current builds of 7-Zip, WinRAR, Firefox, and Chrome. So there's something weird going on here.

Any ideas?

Since GreatNews seems to be dead since long of time ago, which explains why your download links are not working, the blog is down, home page is still referencing build 386, ...

I already posted on the blog a couple of years ago, updated builds on the latest source code, even with native x86 and x64 binaries, and some upgrades and tweaks on SQLite, but no official answer at all.

Definitely interested, what else do I need to get it running? The most recent working version I have is 386, do I just drop these files in that folder and run them?

[edit] Nevermind, I did that and it worked perfectly. Thank you![/edit]

Good it was useful to you too.
I do notice a good performance boost in my build, specially on the 64 bit version compared to the official 390/386 ones.
Hope the official developers will take care of it.

- Ability to show only unread feeds on the news feeds treeview.
- I like Feeddemon keyboard behaviour, that makes up and down arrows to move from previous feed to next one, if focus is in the treeview, move from one item to another if in the listview, or scroll up and down, if focus is in the previe...

I'm really hoping we aren't annoying people with our discussion here...

Anyway, a couple of bugs I've noticed. One, for some reason, when I hover over a feed, it ALWAYS tells me "Update failed", even when it's just finished updating and downloaded new stories. Not critical, but annoying. Two, it puts a "_" character at the beginning of the title of every single story. Not sure where that's coming from.

Other than that, awesome! Loving the new build, if they're not going to continue the development, maybe you should post it on SourceForge or somewhere, get some awareness that GreatNews still exists. This is my favorite newsreader, hands down, and has been since I first found it back when it was still being actively developed. Thank you for your labor of love in keeping it going.

Unfortunatelly I do not have Visual C++ 2010 nor 2012 installed anymore, and GreatNews is not able to be built with Visual C++ 2013 nor 2014 RC, so I honestly doubt I could fix those issues, nor add new features.

Well, crud monkies.

Do you think it would build under GCC? If so, and if you think you'd be able to talk me through finding those bugs, I'd be willing to install that and take a shot a fixing those bugs at least.
