bug, crash, suggestion for js

Postby skip » Mon Jun 09, 2008 2:12 pm

Running the latest code, if I get a page that contains javascript from another source, like google-analytics, and that wasn't loaded (blocked by system, firewall, etc), a call to the js routine will crash GN unceremoniously. IE and Firefox, when tested on the same page, ignore the missing calls. GN should too. ;)

See http://feeds.foxnews.com/foxnews/latest and using the VStudio debugger, it fails at urchin() in the googleanalytics piece.

The temp fix is to open all clicks in a browser, but that is ugly. The GN homepage causes an error too, but not a crash, probably because of js code too.

I would also suggest adding the option to not run code or accept cookies (2 options actually), and an option to specify a path to a particular browser. I would like to use portable firefox for instance, which doesn't make itself known in the registry or is the default (by design).
