I wonder how Bloglines integration is done.

Is it so, that feeds go *through* Bloglines and then come to GreatNews?
Or is it so, that GreatNews retrieves feeds independently and uses Bloglines to sync read/unread status only?

I wouldn't like to be too dependent on Bloglines, on its refresh schedules and bugs. I want to use GreatNews as a main reader and Bloglines only as a backup solution to use while travelling, from the mobile phone, from the office, etc.

yes Bloglines Sync Channels actually download them through Bloglines. And Bloglines do filtering stuff. For example Bloglines will remove <commentRss> element...

You can also detach a channel from Bloglines. Then GreatNews will download it directly from original site. You can reattach a channel to Bloglines by adding the sync channel again.

Are there any plans to make GreatNews a bit more independent on Bloglines?
I really like the synchronization idea, but would still prefer receiving unfiltered feeds

when a sync channel is detached from Bloglines, Greatnews will handle the channel on its own, independent of Bloglines.
