Installation of Great News - User permissions

Postby Illegalerror » Tue Nov 07, 2006 12:07 pm

Hi, I am an administrator in a Law firm. Several users have requested access to the RSS Viewer and I have installed it for them. However, only local administrators seem to have full access to the functions. Can any tell me which areas/files/reg keys the users need special permissions to please.

GreatNews by default installs to Program Files. And its data and config files are also located in the program directory. Regular users might only have access to his/her own personal directory. GreatNews won't be able to work in this scenario.

As a workaround you could just unzip greatnews.zip into each users' directory. GreatNews doesn't really need the installer. But it's a hustle for sys admin to go through upgrade process in the future. Generally there's a new version out every 2 months or so. New versions sometime need to upgrade user data file as well.
