Reinstalling Windows and subsequently GreatNews

Postby Big Bro » Wed Aug 30, 2006 8:35 pm

I just read where I would need to move a file named newsfeed.db to the installation folder of another PC or Export the backup file as an OPML file.

I tried exporting the file and had to look for it, as I did not expect it to be copied to the GreatNews installation directory. I was expecting to find a browse button that would allow me to choose the destination.

No problem, I'll just move it to a CD for safe keeping till I need it, however, I noticed that there was no file extension. It only had the name I gave it. Will this file work as a backup without an extension when I get ready to import it off the CD?

Greatfully,
Big Bro

The easiest way to move GreatNews to another pc is:

1. Make a backup copy of your old pc's C:\Program Files\CurioStudio\GreatNews folder

2. Install GreatNews on 2nd pc

3. Copy the backup GreatNews folder to the new pc and overwrite all files.

Thank you for your prompt reply!

Is this also the best way to backup the program, using an application like SyncBack, on a regular schedule?

Gratefully,

The files really matter are GreatNews.ini and newsfeed.db. But I'd suggest just to back up the whole GreatNews folder. Newsfeed.db is going to take 90% of the backup anyway.

I'm also considering installing Linux Ubuntu 6.06.1. Do you know if your program will run on it?

Sorry but GreatNews doesn't run on Linux.
