Redownloading articles?

Postby joelore » Wed Aug 16, 2006 12:47 pm

Ok, this is something other RSS readers do that is a HUGE pet peve of mine. I was hoping this would not happen by default. Why is Great News re-downloading articles I've alrady read and delted?

If an article is deleted and the feed happens to have no timestamp, GreatNews will download the article again because it doesn't know it's deleted. I generally suggest you keep a couple of months articles then delete the old articles with Tools->Cleanup function.

Hello,

I am having this same problem although the items keep coming back even when they have time stamps.

I do Tools > Cleanup and select the following:

- Clean up News Items that are older than - ALL (I have also tried 1 week)
- Include unread news
- Include labeled news
- Keep only the most recent (0) news Items per feed (I have tried 5)

and it still reloads the last 10 or so for every single feed. How do I get it to delete every thing permanently?

Thanks!

please give me one of the problem feed, I will try it out. Thanks.

Generally you don't have to cleanup that offen. GreatNews can handle 6-month items from 1000 feeds.

This is probably the same bug reported here. I'm investigating on it. Thanks.
