Now that GN is open-source, perhaps a new FF core?

Now that GreatNews is Open-source, it could use a better inner "core" instead of the sh***y IE. Firefox would be the obvious choice (though I would LOVE to see Opera there - but that one is not free :( ).

How hard and time-consuming would it be?

Well there is already the possibility to use the Mozilla engine - see here - but afaict that one's not been updated in ages... To me, FF doesn't look easy to integrate at all, if I had to choose a completely new browser control I'd probably go with WebKit right now.

How adept are you when it comes to coding with C++ on Windows? The IE stuff is pretty much contained in a single class, BrowserHost, why not just give it a try?

Well, that is the (embarassing) problem - oh so many times I wished I would know C++ or other widely used programming language to do anything I wanted to (I programmed a bit in an old Basic a looong time ago), unfortunately I do not.

Therefore I don't know if I can do anything here... :(

I'm bumping this in hopes that someone knows how to do it and wants to give it a shot.
