Double entries

Postby eddydc » Mon Jan 28, 2008 2:56 am

When I read this feed with GN, entries appear 2, 3, 4, ... times. http://www.deredactie.be/cm/de.redactie ... ?mode=atom

When I open them in eg Firefox, I don't have this problem

I checked the feed and it is displayed correctly in GN, there are no repeated entries. I have XP SP2 with GN 384.

Did you wait till updates came in. It seems that multiple updates on the same subject result in double entries as you can see in the attached screen shot
Btw I'm using Vista

Indeed, if the feed is updated the double entries appear. But it's not the fault of GreatNews, it's the fault of the feed. Maybe you can contact the site and tell them about that, the double posts appear also in FeedDemon, so the behavior is not limited to GN.

And what should I say what the reason is for this behaviour?

They should discover themselves the reason why the feed behaves that way. GreatNews and FeedDemon are widely used RSS readers so they should fix the feed. Maybe it's the fact that the feed is in Atom format, although GN or FD have no problems with other Atom feeds.

Maybe you should ask them to provide also a feed in RSS 2.0 format.
