Post subject: [design] A few requests

I realize you're hard at work on the next beta, but I thought of a few features that would be great:

Space bar goes to the next unread group once you're at the end of a channel/group.
Ability to view all the stories across the channels in a channel group in a one page newspaper format (separated by the same header you currently have at the top of the page)
Allow to default to show all stories in a channel or group on a single page without having clicking the "Next>" link.
    Custom ordering of the groups

Thanks so much!

I see you can already do #3 above.. great!

I guess the toughest thing for me is the "next>" button... sometimes you'd like to see all the items on one page by default.

I know that tabbed browsing is frequently requested... but I'd like to put my vote in for NOT including tabbed browsing. I'd much prefer that you simply open a new tab in an existing external browser. It'd be so much more useful. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions.

1. A lot of users use SPACE bar to scroll pages. Personally I like mouse scroll wheel better, but since shortcut keys are hardcoded right now, I cannot use the SPACE for other things. In next phase GreatNews will provide customizable shortcut keys so everybody will be happy:). F7/F8 is the default shortcuts to move to next unread channel/group.

2. You can config number of items on one page through Tools->Options->Reading tab. The default is 10, but you can increase to as high as 999.

3. Tabs are not implemented because I'm sure dedicated browsers provide much nicer tabs. But this request is so overwhelming I have to add it. The next build will include a simple tab support. The build after that will provide option to disable tabs. Sort of 2 steps ahead and 1 step back :)
