Font Change / Mark as Unread

Postby tshusker » Fri Dec 01, 2006 1:22 am

I've been using GreatNews program (v. 1.0.0.376) now for some time, and have really enjoyed it.

Two suggestions?

1. Some function by which I may change the font, and increase the font size. I'm 41 and my eyes are loosing some of their luster (or focus, at least).

2. There are times I will read a feed but not finish it. Although partially read, when I move to another feed, the old feed it automatically marked as "read," and I don't a function that allows me to mark it as "unread," thereby leaving it bolded and highlighted so that I know to go back later and finish my read.

If these functions are already in the program, I haven't found them, and any direction you may give is greatly appreciated. If they're not in the program, I think their inclusion would improve the program, or at least make my use of GreatNews a bit easier.

And if I"m able to already do these things with the present program, please make your descriptions and explanations as simple as possible (not the most knowledgeable when it comes to some tech stuff.) :?

Thanks.

1) Change font: I don't see it either; wait for Jack's answer

2) Mark as unread: right-click on the headline - mark as unread

Thanks for the response.

I've tried that, and the only option I receive is to mark the item as "read," not "unread."

To change the font you can open the style css file under GreatNews Media directory. You can find something like:

Code: Select all

div.gn_storydetails,td
{
 clear: both;
 font-size: small;
 margin: 0px;
 padding: 8px 10px;
}

To enlarge the font, change the font-size to normal, or large.

You can turn off the auto-mark-as-read feature through Tools->Options->Usability->Should mark last feed/group as read automatically. To turn an article unread, you can click the star infront of each article title to flip between read/unread.

Another way to code font-size, I think:

font-size: 60%;
etc.

In case you are not aware of this, you can add your own remarks to "c" code:

font-size: 60%; // default was 110%

or

/* default font-size was 110% */
font-size: 60%;

Oops, this comment probably won't work in GN if it's in C++

/* default font-size was 110% */
