Saving opened tabs in case of a crash?

Hi folks, would it be possible for Greatnews to save currently opened internal tabs continuously? So that after a crash they can be reopened automatically? On a number of occasions it happened that I opened multiple tabs of news items and then GN crashed... I did not remember which they were anymore...

Sorting - staying on the current line?

Hiya folks,

were it possible to tweak the viewing of an RSS feed in such a fashion, that when you change sorting, say by Title, the currently highlighted entry stays highlighted? E.g. that the view automatically scrolls to it, so you do not lose its focus?

Re: Now that GN is open-source, perhaps a new FF core?

Well, that is the (embarassing) problem - oh so many times I wished I would know C++ or other widely used programming language to do anything I wanted to (I programmed a bit in an old Basic a looong time ago), unfortunately I do not.

Therefore I don't know if I can do anything here... :(

Now that GN is open-source, perhaps a new FF core?

Now that GreatNews is Open-source, it could use a better inner "core" instead of the sh***y IE. Firefox would be the obvious choice (though I would LOVE to see Opera there - but that one is not free :( ).

How hard and time-consuming would it be?

Re: Feed slows on updates (irrespective of actual new posts)

Nope.

It behaves as if no new entries were posted in the meantime (which is incorrect of course) - "0 updates from feed".

Re: Feed slows on updates (irrespective of actual new posts)

This happens irrespective of the Update Frequency setting. I usually set it to default (15 mins) or I set it to 5 mins if I wish to.

Other feeds do not show this problem.

And no error is shown on this feed either in GN.

Perhaps someone could try to add the feed to their GN and test for me...?

Feed slows on updates (irrespective of actual new posts)

Guys, is anybody able to help out? I have a forum feed from a site. I add it to Greatnews. At the start the updating is fine - around 30 news come in, being the last posts on the whole site. Then later the frequency fades and the feed only updates once an hour or so (irregularly) getting ~1 or 2 new...

Re: GreatNews 1.0.386-ktm

fcmk, you are not the only one! I can verify the speed increase myself, as I have two separate instances of GN, one running daily feeds and one running constantly updated ones - and both show an increase ;) Which is great, because sometimes it bugged me a lot that the DB did not refresh that quickly...

Re: A multitude of questions, suggestions, and pleas for dev/usr

stisev's suggestions are great!

Especially the "Smart feed" function - from FeedReader - is great, as I can filter out many sub-news from one giant feed, read then through separately and mark as read that way... Watches do not really work that well in GN ;)

Saving Passwords?

Hi Jack (all), is GN saving passwords to Sites / Forums, when I browse them (login to them in one of the tabs)? I always get the problem that I have to re-log to each such site when I open a new Tab - say reading RSS from a forum and wanting to reply to some topic... Or does it rely on a general sys...

New IE Core for GreatNews?

Hi,

would it be possible to update GreatNews with a newer version of IE? The current one does not handle some operations well... or pages etc.
