"pause" exists

If you right-click a feed, go to the properties and then check the box at the bottom of the first tab that says, "Do not update this feed automatically."

That will grey out the feed in the list. You can still check the feed by selecting it and explicitly asking for an update.

I understand that the Group doesn't have a stylesheet. But what I really want is each feed to display in its own style, and if it doesn't have one to use the default.

Individual feed display preferences ignored in groups

I suppose this is a difficult one, but I have a feed that contains way too much content that I only want to browse. So I set the display properties to the Brief style, instead of the default. Unfortunately, when I read that feed as part of the group, it displays in the group style of full-text. Is t...

The developer, Jack Pan, has been out on vacation for a few weeks, so we will continue getting this message until he posts something new when he gets back.

Maybe he needs to remove that message from the latest version.

Have you looked at the News Watches in GreatNews? You can set GN to monitor the title, content, url or even author name. You can then mark that article as read; highlight the phrase in the article; or ignore matched items. I've found this very helpful in ignoring posts that are just "Links from...

agreed - maybe threading?

Yes... I run into this with some of the search feeds I have as well. It would be nice to collect these all into one place or otherwise find all related articles. This is the essence of threading. Articles that reference one another should be threaded together, so it is easier to follow the line of c...

Blogger blogs acting funny (grabbing old posts)

Yesterday I noticed that many of the Blogger/BlogSpot blogs I read were being redownloaded. (I mean old posts were being pulled by GreatNews and marked as new.) Is this something others are seeing, or is it unique to me? Is it something in GreatNews, or is it a wider issue? Jack Vinson Update: This ...

I've wanted more flexibility here as well. I know that Jack Pan has been trying to fix an annoying problem where the Spacebar doesn't always translate to a scroll / next item behavior when it should.

Here is an old post on keyboard shortcuts

I've seen this happen too. But it doesn't appear to happen in all cases.

When it does happen, the current view refreshes itself with any new articles displayed in the list.

Automagically "read" old articles

I thought this feature existed in the filters somewhere, but I can't find it. What I'd like is for GreatNews to scan the incoming messages and when there is one that has a date older than X, mark it as read. This usually happens when people rebuild their feeds or other hiccups cause GreatNews to gra...

I'm not sure what it would look like. Maybe a reminder on each feed that I have comments being tracked and do I want to see them all (for the feed). From there, I could decide to continue or not. On the global level, there should probably be a similar mechanism... sorry I'm not clearer on this one. ...

Check out the various HTML to RSS services. Essentially, they check the websites against archived copies and let you know when there are updates. But the better ones only check for certain patterns (if you only want to look at a specific part of the page). And you need to use several because the HTM...

Let me restate: I have hundreds of articles where I've asked to Track Comments. I'd like to turn those off because this seems a waste of bandwidth to check that there are no new comments.

Is it possible to do this?

That makes me feel somewhat better. And I don't think there was anything missing when the unread count changed. (I'm using 383 currently.) The other thing about the cleanup tool that is frustrating is the inability of GreatNews to do a cleanup AND keep track of what's been read on the blogs I read. ...
