Re: GreatNews 1.0.388-ktm

Also, since GN is written using Microsoft's ATL, it's damn near impossible to port to Linux - Your best bet is to use Wine. That's actually what I'm using, and it even kinda works (with a few workarounds), but it's far from perfect. (Still, by any means, do switch - I've been using Gentoo for years...

Re: Feed slows on updates (irrespective of actual new posts)

Well if it went in there and tried and failed it should say so. Mine always has 2 or 3 fail, and then later in the day they activate when they are ready with new feeds. They actually turn the feed off, load feeds, and turn it back on again. Some que delay is my only guess. Try sending them an email ...

Re: Feed slows on updates (irrespective of actual new posts)

Hello,

On your screen, bottom left side, does it ever say "update feed failed"
or "1 feed failed" or something like that ? What does it say down there
when you try to auto update this feed ?

Re: GreatNews 1.0.388-ktm

The binary's (.exe's) size went down, that's the main difference. I just disabled a bunch of unused features. Memory usage went down ever so slightly too due to that, but probably not enough for anyone to really care. Bloated programs are kind of a pet peeve of mine (right now I'm trying to get GN ...

Style Sheet

Hello,

I use this sheet on my netbook everyday. Feel free to
increase the margins if you want a narrower window,
if you can, or use it partial screen for a narrower window.

Re: This looks pretty good full screen

I think it's a good starting point for a new style, but the color scheme needs a little more work ( look here for inspiration ) - e.g. the link color clashes with the headline background. The font selection is chaotic too, try to stick to one or two (similar) fonts. And stop using Comic Sans , plea...

Re: Feed slows on updates (irrespective of actual new posts)

This happens irrespective of the Update Frequency setting. I usually set it to default (15 mins) or I set it to 5 mins if I wish to. Other feeds do not show this problem. And no error is shown on this feed either in GN. Perhaps someone could try to add the feed to their GN and test for me...? Do yo...

Re: GreatNews 1.0.388-ktm

The attached archive contains the latest GreatNews.exe only, to be used as a replacement for the one included in the previous release's archive [/code] One question regarding 387 to 388, which this GreatNews.exe upgrade is to replace, not the 386 one, if I am reading this right. When you tweaked th...

Re: One or two things

Hello, Last night I tried to backup and restore XP with LINUX. Took about 12 -14 minutes, except it doesn't know how to copy .NET Framework files and gave some errors. Shadow copy takes over an hour, but gives errors on .NET Framework too. Had an SQL report that ran about 3-4 hours, another program ...

One or two things

Hello, One thing this program does is lose count of pages when it reads news items that are labeled in that directory. Setting it to 999 solves that. But, otherwise if you are on the last page in a label directory, say page 4, the program says you are on page 2 or 3. The only other thing is the scre...
