"Do not update" inconsistency

When I've marked a group to be not auto-updated, it won't update it even when I click on the group label.

To force an update I have to right click and do "Update feed/group". And even when it is updated all the feed titles remain grayed out, making it hard to read.

Thanks!

Just checked the 372 build, it handles Atom 1.0 base URLs fine now. Only problem I saw was when it handled the redirect to the Atom feed on Tim's feed it still could not handle the base URL. Deleting the old feed and adding the Atom feed fixed that, does GN re-detect the feed type upon redirection? ...

It is a bug

Both Tim and Sam Ruby switched to providing only Atom feeds around the same time. At the same time they started redirecting their old RSS feeds to the Atom feed. I am running build 371 and it has the same problem. I don't think GN has ever handled Atom 1.0 feeds before this. Blogger Atom feeds are t...

Options screenshot

These are my GreatNews options. The last one is of the Firefox 'Tabs' options tab.

I am using a dual monitor set up, though I can't see any possible reason why that should be an issue.

Thanks for the reply. I think the unread item was in the reading pane. If we are referring to the same thing, I keep the news list collapsed almost all the time. The dialogue box is not the same as in subscribing a feed, this one pops up with the item link and it only has the 'General' tab on top. H...

I'm really sorry for mistakenly posting this in the main list, should have posted it under the 369 build thread, could you please move it there admin?

Feed property dialogue bug

Apologies in advance if this is an old bug, but I've seen it only in the 369 build. Reproducing the bug according to a pattern has been an issue since it happens only randomly. When I click on the latest unread item in an updated feed, the feed properties dialogue opens up in GN, at the same time as...

Same slowness

I've had the same problem with GreatNews slowing down to the point of being unusable. It drove me so mad that I even went and installed Sage back on FF. Still, as a last recourse, I decided to try and have a last shot at doing an extensive clean up. Settings I chose were * Clean up news older than 1...

I do agree that if syncing has to be done, it is best done over HTTP, but for that someone needs to write an XML-RPC API in the first place to make that possible. That would still leave syncing the feed list problem unresolved. This can only take care of the read/unread issue. Moreover there is the ...

Alternative to using Bloglines

I have found the Bloglines integration to be very cumbersome (including Bloglines' own caching issues) and I think there should be another option for users who want to use their own server for it. One solution I could think of was to save the state of the feeds in an XML file and use FTP/WebDav to s...
