The More You Know: Regular expression support in searches

(I've come across many undocumented things while browsing through the source. I though it might eventually turn out to be useful to write those down somewhere, so here we go...) Did you know you can use regular expressions when using the toolbar search box? You just have to prefix your seach term w...

- Ability to change the font size Well... You could edit whichever stylesheet you're using to get that effect. Also, IE's zoom features seem to work for the reading pane, too. I can't reproduce it right now, but I do keep accidentally zooming all over the place occasionally... Pretty annoying imho....

Re: GreatNews 1.0.388-ktm

Different versions - granted, but different languages? First, AFAICT the core DLLs (C runtime, kernel32 etc) aren't language specific, and second, if they were and you'd statically link them, wouldn't you force a specific language (or parts thereof, at least) on users of different regions? Either wa...

Re: Exporting, Backing Up Labels and Content

You can just copy around that newsfeed.db you see in the GN directory, then copy it back later. And you might also want to include the ini while you're at it. That'll take care of all your settings, news etc. (Unless you fiddled around with custom styles, languages etc, in that case you'd have to co...

I'm going to look into this soon, for now you'll have go back to an earlier build.

Re: Disable "reading pane" ?

Not possible, I'm afraid. But you could disable tabbed browsing and resize the news list to its maximum (so the reading pane is still around but doesn't take up too much screen real estate), that should get you close to the functionality you want (if I understand correctly what you want to do).

Re: GreatNews 1.0.388-ktm

That's why you use the driver development kit and some black magic to link against the msvcrt.dll that has been part of Windows' base installation since at least Win98 or thereabouts, just like Office & co do. About the memory usage, you're using Windows and complaining about memory, wth? My mai...

Re: GreatNews 1.0.389-ktm

So each and every post in here needs to be approved manually, huh? That would explain why it feels so dead in here most of the time... Anyways, about the group creation issue... I'll look into it, and you probably won't even have to wait long since I was thinking about prepping a new release soon an...

Re: GreatNews 1.0.389-ktm

Okay, I just set up a W7U64 VM and tried the exact build of GN posted above - worked perfectly for me (apart from the fact that the window didn't look very Aero-ish and out-of-place). I'll let it download all of its system updates once I get access to proper internet again and see if that changes an...

Re: GreatNews 1.0.389-ktm

Great, a huge-ass error box with little text and absolutely no useful information... Gotta love Windows. And I have no 64-bit Win7 machine to reproduce this on (will have to try setting up a VM later, I guess). Damn.

Does the static build throw that error, too?

Re: GN stopped opening links in external browser

If I had to guess, I'd say blame Opera (probably silently installed an update that broke stuff?). It's my favourite browser, but a real bitch to get to properly integrate with other programs. I have a wrapper script that launches it with "opera -nomail -newtab $(url)", maybe try it this wa...

Re: NYTimes feed does not verify

Even though you can look through the source and find the RSS feed URL yourself easily, GN seems to somehow not recognize it... Weird, this has always worked for me so far. Try adding the feed's URL directly:

Code: Select all

http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/HomePage.xml
