GreatNews new public beta
A new version of GreatNews is out with a long list of updates! 
The new features include new statistics reports, security enhancements, reminder of inactive channels and a lot of other stuff. This public beta is definitely the best GreatNews version to date.
To zip file users, now GreatNews.zip can be used for upgrading too. Just unzip the files to your local GreatNews directory. There’s no more GreatNews_upgrade.zip.

After upgrading, I lost my channels that I had subscribed to.

David, upgrade program will not overwrite your subscriptions. One common problem is there are multiple copies of GreatNews. If you are using the zip version, please download GreatNews.zip to upgrade. Otherwise please use GreatNewsSetup.exe to upgrade.

I keep getting a “failed to send internet request error [2]” message for all feeds. In fact I can’t get anything to work at all… have been trying for the last hour - totally confused now. Am I missing something? A link to user help page or FAQ would be great. Or perhaps a blog post about it. Looked in the forums, just couldn’t find anything. Cheers.

rg, if you get this error after upgrading to a new version, most likely it’s because some firewall blocks GreatNews from accessing internet. Software based firewall does that if an executable was changed. You can search “firewall” on the forum for more information.

白话RSS及RSS订阅…
首先，从来不敢说自己懂技术。对于一个停留在应用阶段，也就是用户级别的网上人来说，自己真就不敢说会什么技术。今天看见红猪说要我说说trackback的事，就建立了个分类叫“整点技术”，目的就是想用白话的形势把一些能够与blog关联的“技术”给不了解的人讲讲，稍微入个门。在说Trackback之前，我最想先说说RSS。
